The Living Desert features desert plant- and animal-life from North America and Africa, including rare animal species such as the sand cat and slender-horned gazelle, which the center is helping to protect and reintroduce into the wild. Gardens at the center are separated either by region, species or focus, with areas such as the Sonoran Pond Garden, the Palm Garden, and the Hummingbird Garden. It is located in the Coachella Valley, amidst scenic golf courses set on the desert.
Open daily, Sep - mid-Jun: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; mid-Jun - Aug: 8:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Adults $11.95; Seniors (62+) and Military $10.50; Children (3-12) $7.50; Children under 3 are free. Summer: Adults, Seniors and Military $8.75; Children $4.75.
